Here’s how we’re helping teen girls* learn media literacy skills, become fierce young activists, and shore up their mental health at the same time.
Youth speak up

Our interns Natasha, Kelly, and Emily took to Instagram Live to talk about their views about a variety of important topics, like AAPI representation in media, feminism in the music industry, and LGBTQIA+ representation in media.
These girls rocked their summer programs! Girls* Change-Making Task Force Programs
In July and August, we partnered with the Redwood City Public Library to host our second Girls* Change-Making Task Force!
These girls learned about media representations and then turned that education into action by creating media that educates and empowers themselves and others. Here are some of their final projects!

94% of the girls in our Girls* Change-Making Task Force program reported higher self-esteem and confidence.
82% said they want to become leaders in social activism.
See more about our programs and find out how to make it happen for you!
* About-Face welcomes and includes gender-expansive youth. To us, “girls” means self-identified girls, trans girls, gender-expansive youth, gender non-conforming, and non-binary youth.
