Being a type 1 diabetic from 4 years old I have seen and heard of many diabetic women/girls doing this. Unfortunately it is too easy and too common (keep in mind having acadocis is the worst feeling). Awarness by the medical community into this needs to be taken.

You know, it's amazing the lengths that people will go to in order to fit into the feminine ideal. People will actually INJURE themselves just to be what they think is "perfect".
Life is far too precious to waste it on trying to be what the media deems as perfect.

I also wanted to say that I'm really sorry about hearing about your diabetes, and it's good to hear that you're doing well. I didn't see any updates on the site for quite a while, and I was starting to get worried! I hope you guys keep up the good work and keep spreading the good word about self-love and confidence.
I know for a fact that you've made a HUGE difference in my world!

Thank you!

Alison-
Great job! As a Type I pump-controlled diabetic, I can't imagine turning off my pump to lose weight. Of course, as a male, the tremendous pressure to lose weight is non-existent (though, to be honest, I really do miss my pecs and delts of 10 years ago). I knew about non-diabetics using insulin to achieve low blood sugar to effectively burn off weight, but I had never heard of diabulimia. We, and I include men, continue to need more education about the horrible side effects of the horrible media-imposed ideal body type imposed upon women.

On a related note, I remember when I first found out that you were a diabetic from P. I think we may have even spoke about our disease and living with it. I am so happy to hear that you are doing so well!
